PLE

After the traditional google search to find information I was left appreciating the given link for the most thorough explanation of the questions.

When I read about what a PLE is my mind immediately went to mind mapping. It reminded me of this concept I use often in ASL interpreting and in teaching ASL interpreting concepts. It seems to me that the flexibility of a PLE gives a student the opportunity to basically mind map the things they have learned. In doing so it benefits the teacher in that he/she can have insight to the students mind and learning process on an entirely different level than that of an exam or other assessment.

I think this will be a great way for me to review and express the things I have learned from readings and other class information. I am looking forward to using this beyond this course as well.

RSS

I had never heard of this acronym but of course my computer savvy husband was familiar. A Rich Site Summary creates a way for a user to see a summary of information added to several sites without having to go to each site individually.

Thank you to Julie for adding a site to her PLE where we could find so many relevant journals with RSS feeds.

Journal of Cognition and Development
Journal of Educational Psychology
Cognition and Instruction

These looked to me like interesting journals, I'll have to watch for what comes across now.

My First Blog

I have been considering a blog for quite some time. This is going to give me a great opportunity to enter the blog world with a different perspective. I look forward to sharing ideas about learning with others in this environment.
